How To Configure Spam Assassin and Mail Filter From cPanel

1) After loggin into your cPanel account, you can see all the option of cpanel. You have to click on the Mail icon.


2) Once you clicked on Mail icon you can see the below screen. To configure, click on Spam Assassin. Spam Assassin is an automated mail filter that uses a wide range of heuristic algorithms on mail headers and message body text to identify "SPAM" (unsolicited email). Once identified, the mail is flaged as a "SPAM EMAILS".


3) Once you clicked on Spam Assassin option you can see the screen below, you can see the Current Status of your Spam Assassin. If Spam Assassin has not been enabled, click on the Enable SpamAssassin buttton.
After Spam Sssassin has been enabled, click on the Configure SpamAssassin (required to rewrite subjects) button.


4) You can see the below screen once you click Configure SpamAssassin button, ensure that you configure the folloging.
Firstly, add a score into the required_score textbox. Default is 5 but we recommed a score of 8. Afer setting the score add the text *****SPAM***** to the rewrite_header subject textbox.
Click on Save.

Now all the emails which are determined as spam by Spam Assassin will be flagged with the text *****SPAM***** in the subject of the email.

5) After clicking on the Save button, you will be broughtback to the menu page in point 2. Click on the E-mail Filtering link and you will get access to following screen.
Click on Add Filter option.


6) Now, replicate the settings on the following screen. In the fist frop-down menu, select Subject. In the second drop-down menu selcet Contains. In the textbox , type *****SPAM*****. Finally set the destination to Discard.

What you have configured, is a rule which states that every e-mail which has been flagged *****SPAM***** in the subject should be automatically discarded by the Control Panel Software.

After you have replaced the setting, click on the Activate button.


7) After clicking on the Activate button, you will be on the below screen. It shows a summary of the filter which you have just configured.


Now Feel Secure from SPAM, you have just configured Spam Assassin to flag all spam e-mails with *****SPAM***** in the subject area and then configured your Control Panel to automatically discard these emails before they reach to your MailBox.
