In Simple terms a Dedicated server with high configuration. Like Quad core or better processor, 16GB RAM, 1TB HDD, 1000mb Up link etc..

Why VPS Node requires high end configuration coz you have to create n number of VPS with less configuration.

VPS node is a Dedicated Server used to setup multiple VPS accounts on it. It is, usually, a High End Quad Core Dedicated Server.

The VPS is part of the resources of a Dedicated server, along with other VPSs. The Dedicated server that hosts several VPSs maybe Part of a cluster or group of Dedicated servers run by that company. Each Dedicated server that is part of the cluster, is a VPS Node.

Hello, so do you mean that there are Dedicated Servers which are not part of cluster? If yes, can't we setup VPS on those Dedicated Servers which aren't the part of a cluster?

In simple words:

You have a VPS. This VPS is part of the resources of a Dedicated server, together with other VPSs. The Dedicated server that hosts a number of VPSs maybe a Part of cluster or group of Dedicated servers operated by that company. Every single Dedicated server that is part of the cluster, is a VPS Node.

Thumbs up

A VPS node is basically a dedicated server on which VPS's are created using a Virtualization application. There are many virtualization applications available which can be used to create VPS's on the dedicated server.

There are two types of virtualizations. Software based and hardware based. In software based virtualization environment, the virtual machines are sharing the same kernel and essentially needs main node’s resources. This type of virtualization usually have pretty good number of benefits in web hosting environment as because the quota keeps on increasing and decreasing in real time where you don’t need to restart the node. The examples are HyperVM, Vserver,Virtuozzo, Xen and most of all OpenVZ which is the core kernel of both HyperVM and Virtuzzo.

So a VPS node is basically just a computer attached to a network with a sole purpose of hosting Virtual Private Servers.

Most of the time a vps node consists of a core2quad [or better] processor 4 to 8gb ram and dual harddrives 500gb to 1tb in size connected to a 100mb or 1000mb port intended to host many vm's
