The answer would be definitely Managed Dedicated Servers.

The reason for this is the fact that Managed Dedicated server includes installation and configuration of various necessary applications, security features, Monitoring, Disaster recovery, Troubleshooting, installation of patches and updates for them etc.

If you choose a Managed dedicated server, the hosting provider will take care of the management of your dedicated server and you can concentrate on your website, it's performance and rankings

Certainly Managed Dedicated Server should be preferred, if you are a callow and don't know how to manage a server and what issues may occur and how to resolve them?

Just to make sure your hosting provider doesn't charge you extra for management of dedicated servers.

I personally would opt for Managed Dedicated Server, the reason being,I am not good with managing the server on my own.
Basically choosing between the two is a matter of choice. If an individual has enough knowledge and experience of server management, then an unmanaged server would definitely save him/er some bucks.
Still,an experienced webmaster would choose managed services, because with his experience,he is well aware of the amount of support that is required and the issues involved in its management. The webhost has enough experienced dedicated staff who can take of things within minutes, hence managed dedicated servers are usually preferred by most of the users.

Most of the hosting providers who offer fully managed dedicated servers do not charge extra for Management, however, if you notice, their is a difference in the price when it comes a fully managed dedicated server and an unmanaged dedicated server. However, if you consider an unmanaged dedicated server just to save some money, you won't get support for the server which is certainly not good. If you need support with the unmanaged dedicated server, you have to pay for it

Hence, it is better to consider a fully managed dedicated server as you will get support for it which saves time and energy and you get rid of problems which might occur

Managed Dedicated Server -

The hosting provider is in charge of all the admin functions such as installation of application and upgrades. They will also assist you in case of any issue regarding software or hardware.

Unmanaged Dedicated Server -

Hosting provider will not install all the systems that required for you, in which you have to handle all other things. They will not assist you if any issue regarding systems or any software upgrades.

I think they will only assist you if any failure in hardware

So its best to choose Fully Managed Dedicated Server.

As unmanaged dedicated server providers do not provide 24x7 support, it might be possible that you will not be able to contact the hosting provider for a long time even if the hardware fails, whereas, when it comes a managed hosting provider, they generally offer 24x7 support and hence you can contact them at any point of time if the hardware fails.

Also, if the hardware fails, managed hosting providers offer guaranteed hardware replacement time (depends on the hosting provider you choose ) and hence you can be sure that the hardware of the server will be replaced within the estimated time frame which is not the case with an unmanaged hosting provider.

Many of the clients opting for the Dedicated Server think that they can manage it them selves and at the end , end up with the crisis. What do you think the feature provided by the web hosting provider makes it special and reliable ? , making them to go for the managed services .

I would consider support as the most important factor when it comes to hosting services. One should always choose a hosting provider who offers round the clock excellent quality support services. One of the reasons one should choose a Managed hosting service is the fact that all the necessary applications are pre-installed and you will also get support for it if you face any problem. Moreover, you will also get support to install the applications you need which is an added benefit
