Subdomains can be used to develop different section for your website as they use a prefix of your original domain name to form the address; an example of a subdomain would be 'subdomain.host.co.in', with host.co.in being the main domain name. The cPanel file structure dictates that each subdomain will call its files from a folder of the same name in your main web folder.
Addon domains are designed to map standard domain names (i.e. host.co.in), other than the domain name that is assigned as the main one to your web hosting account, to subdomains hosted under your web hosting account. This feature enables you to host multiple domain names with a single web hosting account so that you can fully utilize the resources available to you.
Pointing/parking allows you to attach additional domain names to your existing web hosting account, but not necessarily to host individual websites for these domains. When an end-user enters a parked domain's URL into their web browser they will see the website for your main domain name.
With a redirect you can setup one page to automatically redirect to another page. This will be beneficial when you are restructuring your website and need to redirect users who may directly access old pages to their new equivalent.
A DNS zone file is what forms the basis of any domain name because it translates the human-readable domain name (i.e. host.co.in) into the IP address (i.e. 123.456.789.012) of the server that is hosting your website; unlike humans, servers communicate through the means of IP addresses as opposed to domain names. The Simple DNS Zone Editor of cPanel only allows you to create A and CNAME records for your domain name's zone file, whereas the Advanced DNS Zone Editor can be used to create records of all types.
If you wish to create a section for your website that can only be accessed by certain people then this can be achieved by password protecting a directory and creating user accounts for individual users. By doing this, when a user requests a certain directory under your website, their web browser will prompt them to enter a username and password in order to view the protected directory.
Adding IP addresses here will allow you to block offending users from accessing your website. Domain names can also be entered here, as these can then be resolved to the originating IP address.
Using this feature you can generate SSL certificates, signing requests and keys, all of which are key to using SSL as a method of protection for your website and visitors. SSL certificates are used to encrypt information that is passed between visitors and your websites as to provide an extra level of protection where visitors may be entering their personal details.
If a user of a password protect portion of your website gives out their password against the webmaster's will, Leech Protect can be used to identify and redirect any accounts that have been compromised.
This is an encryption that uses the standard private/public key approach to encrypt messages. GnuPG messages are encrypted using a public key, but the message can only be decrypted using a private key, which is deigned to be held by the intended recipient of the message only.
